Digital Agency - NCAA Eligibility Center

The NCAA Eligibility Center, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, oversees the certification of academic and amateur status for student-athletes aiming to compete in NCAA Division I or II athletics. Often called the "clearinghouse," this center ensures that college-bound athletes meet NCAA eligibility requirements.

For students intending to participate in college sports at a Division I or II school, certification by the Eligibility Center is mandatory. Athletes are advised to register with the Eligibility Center by their junior year of high school, though reviewing requirements earlier can be beneficial, especially concerning core academic courses.

To assess eligibility, the center gathers data from high schools, sports organizations, and the athletes themselves. Maintaining eligibility status is the responsibility of the individual student-athlete, who must meet all standards set by the NCAA. If an eligibility decision results in penalties, there is an option to appeal.

More information about NCAA eligibility and amateurism rules can be found on the NCAA Eligibility Center's resources page or by visiting College Hockey, Inc.'s FAQ section.
